MDK Flowers & Greens is a nursery that specialises in growing large, green houseplants. The plants grow in volcanic granulate in a special hydro pot with a water meter and water reservoir.
The water meter indicates when the plant needs watering, and the built-in water reservoir means you don't need to water as often. In this way, people with and without green fingers can enjoy greenery in their homes.
The hydro pot is made from recycled materials and the volcanic granulate is a responsible choice as well. It is a 100% natural product that creates the perfect water and oxygen ratio for roots. What's more, planting on volcanic granulate promotes a healthier living environment. Compared to potting compost, volcanic granulate results in a CO2 reduction of a whopping 92%!
All plants come from a special birthplace. MDK runs their entire plant production process in-house in Ghana, where the foundation of the production is. Ghana has the perfect climate for growing houseplants. More than 170 employees lovingly grow all plants to maturity.
MDK attaches great value not only to love for the plant, but also the welfare of the Ghanaian employees. A few examples: the company provides hot meals every day and medical expenses are reimbursed. Transportation to and from the nursery is provided and staff are offered courses to continue their development and build a stable future.
