Fikona- Perfection in green plants
Fikona is a family business based in Koningshooikt, near Antwerp, Belgium, and was founded in 1992 by Koen and Nancy. Their son Yorick and daughter Quirine joined the company in 2017 to become permanent members of the team.
Ever since Fikona was founded, they have been working with passion and enthusiasm to grow high-quality green plants for their customers.
Bringing the tropics into your home
Fikona is known for its varied assortment of Ficus, Chamaedorea and Areca. Thanks to the many members of the Ficus family, the possibilities are endless! Fikona’s current range includes more than 6 different stem shapes, combined with 8 different Ficus varieties. They are also continuously testing new species and varieties before they are taken into production. The story of each plant starts in Central America, where they grow into mature plants. Once the plants are fully grown, they embark on their three-week sea journey to the nursery in Belgium.
Gently grown green houseplants
After a long journey at sea, without light or water, the plants will have lost many leaves. After potting, the plants are given time to adjust to the European climate. Since all plants arrive from a tropical and ideal climate, their cultivation is gently finished at cool temperatures at Fikona. As a result, they grow a little slower, but the process prepares them nicely for European homes. It follows that Fikona is proud of their plants' long shelf life and their excellent survival rate at 15 degrees Celsius. Chamaedorea are automatically potted & cultivated, in line with their "perfection in green plants" motto.
